Michelle was not at school today and so, we went to the library and listened as a teacher read the story called Penny and Pip by Candace Fleming.
Gym class with Josh was as fun as usual! We walked from lower school, through middle school and then into upper school and out the back door to gym class- only outside for a brief couple of minutes - because it was SO COLD today! The Cardinals like seeing all the big kids in the middle and upper schools (the big kids really like seeing the Cardinals too!).
Josh provided some fun things to work with: buckets, pom-poms, scarves and small rings. He showed friends how to try to get the pom pom in the bucket - basketball style. The Cardinals are very good at using their imagination and figuring out new games to play with whatever they are provided. And yet another great thing about the Cardinals: they are so good at playing with all of their friends. It's amazing to watch the Cardinals go from group to group! Ask your Cardinal what did you liked about gym class today?
Wednesday
Today we did not go over to the meetinghouse for meeting for worship because it was very cold. Instead, we created placemats for shelters and soup kitchens. The Cardinals each made 1 or 2 placemats. Great work Cardinals for creating with your hands and giving with your hearts!!
Thursday
Spanish class with Alicia began by going over our Calendar and Hundred Chart work. Alicia then read us the book Molly's Tuxedo byVicki Johnson. The book was about a girl that really wanted to wear something that she felt comfortable wearing with pockets. While reading the book, the Cardinals had many questions/comments such as: I really like dresses, I wear skirts on the weekend, my mom let me wear what I want, girls and boys can wear pants but boys don't wear dresses. If I want I can wear a dress, I'm wearing a belt in my pants today, why her mom want her wear a dress?, my sister does not like dresses.
We will finish the book next time. Alicia asks friends what do you think will happen next in the book. Will Molly wear a dress like her mom wants her too? or will she choose to wear a tuxedo like she wants too? The Cardinal each voiced opinions and made their predictions.
We revisit the conversation we had with the Cardinals last week about the cookies we made but did not eat. As we were giving them to people in shelters. We then talked about making cookies for us. As our conversation continued the Cardinals decided to make sugar and chocolate chip cookies Ask your Cardinal what kind of cookie they wanted to make?
Friday
Friends cheering on the Eagles by listening to some Eagle's cheers and singing along!!
Willow led us into Music class with Keisha. We warmed our bodies up by dancing to 15 Animals by Philadelphia Chicken. We then warmed up our voices with hoots and sang our hello song jambo. Followed by Keisha making different taps on a drum such as tapping loud, quiet taps, one or four taps. The Cardinals listened carefully and repeated by clapping the taps. Great job Cardinals! We practice Loo by Loo. Keisha read us the book Animal Boogie - friends practice their boogie (dancing) next class we will begin to act this book out. Ask your Cardinal to show you their Boogie?

After finishing up Morning meeting and eating snacks, it was time to go downstairs to make our sugar and chocolate chip cookies!! Friends were very eager to help. We mixed the batter and then divided it into two, all friends got to put chocolate chips in one of the bowls! After rolling the dough into little balls and giving them a thumb press into the oven they went. Each Cardinal got to eat one cookie before eating lunch. Friends also got 3 cookies to bring home!
