Weekend News
Masai - My Nana come to my home. I was playing Nana Fix with her. We play that together. And me and my Nana made flowers. They are real and growing outside.
Annie - I went to the pool and I went under water. And then I went to my Mom Mom's house and then I ate hot dogs, watermelon and vegetables for dinner.
Grant - I play my buddy, Odae. I play my rock elephant with Clarke.
Renata - I went to nature center. So the pond was close so I didn't see any of my tadpole friends. The other side was close too. I saw the antlers of something and I didn't know what it was. My Mommy told me but I forget.
Added later: Hey, Eileen! I figure it out! A DEER! It was not a Mom or Dad! It was waaaaaay in the forest. We sat down like this (knelt down) so the deer would come to us!
Ellery - I saw a snapper turtle on the trail. I look at it. It was in a river deep over a bridge. And I went to a restaurant call "Kids" in Philadelphia and I ate ice cream and cookies and pasta. I go with my Mommy and Daddy and my baby.
Zoey - I went to a party. After the party was over, we went to Potato's house. We play and we eat food. I had a hotdog.
Lydia - I went to a barbeque with my mom and dad and lot of people were there! I saw Thomasina there and I make two new friends. One girl's name Calico. Also, the other day I went to my Mom Mom and Pop Pop and I went to Pretzel Park and I meet a new friend too. Her name is Maple - like maple tree. And I had cheese crackers and salami for lunch.
Lake - I play with my magnet toys. And I just play with my baby. Her was pressing the buttons with her feet - the piano keys.
Colby - I saw Mako sharks. I went to baseball game and I all done!
Isa - I had a barbeque and I had another barbeque with my cousin's neighbors. I ate a hotdog.
Whelan - We read a book call "Poopsie the Cat." In the book some dude was talking to Poopsie and he said, "Boop one of the pussy cats on the nose while they sleep".
Willow - On the first day, my cousins came over with their dog name Hugo and we went to the big kids playground at AFS. We play a really fun game. The second day, I saw my aunt and uncle and then another aunt and uncle. And then the third day, I did the same thing, but at my house.
Julian - I went to my friend's beach house and I ride on their boat! And, I ride on their dirt bike! I had helmet. And then we had waffles for one breakfast day and I like it.
The Cardinals working on a journal entry titled, "What do you like to do with your second grade buddy?" "Why?"
Friends had library class with Michelle in which we returned our books, listened to two stories and checked out books before returning to our classroom. The Cardinals even did some Yoga poses with Michelle! Soon, it was time to head off to rehearsal for our Spring Program!

Wednesday
The Cardinals did not go over to the meetinghouse due to the rain. However, we did have meeting for worship in our classroom! Friends took part in a silence activity in which two friends at a time got two wooden blocks and quietly placed them anywhere on a big piece of paper on the floor. Each Cardinal needed to pay attention and focus as this was a quiet activity and no names were called! What an amazing job our Cardinals did!! Here is what friends say our block creation looked like at the end of our silence activity time:

Before art class we had some shaving cream fun, letters were written with shaving cream. Each Cardinal said a letter or two or called out a word on the table. Friends then got a chance to create their own letters followed by independent exploration.
Art class began with all Cardinals gathering around the table as Johanna showed them all kinds of materials they would use to create a one of a kind piece of art! They had so much fun using scraps of paper, glue sticks, pipe cleaners, hole punchers, shape punchers, markers, stickers, scissors and more as they refined their pincer grasp and worked on some fine motor skills. All were proud of their Masterpiece:)
Thursday
The Cardinals were greeted by Alicia in Spanish class today. They are really doing a fabulous job asking for new words to describe their feelings! Amazing how much growth since September! After going over the calendar and counting the number of days of school, the Cardinals practiced identifying/naming the numbers 1 - 20 by playing Numbers Bingo. Very impressive to watch their "Beautiful Minds" (Alicia's phrase to them) at work! Today it was Masai's turn to squeeze la vaca!
The Cardinals made their third batch of banana bread for this school year today!! Friends were VERY eager to get started and Very excited to eat it. Each Cardinal got a slice to eat at school and a slice to take home!!
Friday
The Cardinals along with the Hummingbirds and Catbird classes practice for our Spring Program on stage in the auditorium !! You're looking and sounding awesome, Cardinals!
Early Morning Free choice time!
The Cardinal having fun with their second grade buddies!! Friends built with wooden blocks and red cups, an alphabet puzzle, drew at the back table, worked with poppets, cubes, made necklaces and bracelets. What a great time we had!!
